Betty Lou Shaluta, 84, Portland, formerly of Grafton, West Virginia, passed away at 7:21 P.M. Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at her residence. Betty was a valiant fighter, having fought a courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 28, 1929 in Grafton, a daughter of the late John B. and Ora “Mildred” Lamm Montgomery.

Betty retired from WV Plastics, formerly Baby World. After her retirement she worked at Tygart Lake State Park. She was a Baptist by faith. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by all.

Surviving are three children, Susan Louise Roush and her husband, Denny, of Portland, Steven Joseph Shaluta Jr., and his wife, Vickie, of St. Albans, West Virginia and Mildred Ann “Millie” Swisher and her husband, Ed, of Grafton, West Virginia, eight grandchildren, Shillina Reger, Portland, Krista Forshey, Walker, West Virginia, Jonathan Reger, Parkersburg, West Virginia, Amy Shaluta, Charleston, West Virginia, Jason Kinder, Racine, West Virginia, Jamie Mooney, Elkview, West Virginia, Miranda Swisher, Charleston, West Virginia, Jebb Swisher, Fairmont, West Virginia, 12 great-grandchildren, Chaz Bland, Schaila Lombardi, Megan Forshey, Gunnar Morgan, Kenley Morgan, Kaelyn Miragliotta, Nicholas Carrier, Dane Kinder, Timothy Smith, Kody Young, Savanna Shaluta, Jamya Berkeley, three great-great grandchildren, Mikaya Forshey, Dante’ Wells and Enzo Lombardi, one sister, Sara Louise Strader of Ravenswood, West Virginia, many nieces and nephews and two very good firends, Annie Williams and Dottie Crawford.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Clark Eugene Montgomery, Julius Elmo Montgomery and Charles Edward Montgomery, two sisters, Syble Madline Morgan and Johnnie Bonita Johnson and two twin great-great grandsons.

Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. Sunday, December 15, 2013, at the Parkview Church of the Nazarene in Grafton, W. Va. Officiating will be Pastors Jeremiah Reynolds and Tina Montgomery.

Interment will be in the Bluemont Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 2 – 4 P.M. on Sunday.
