Meigs County Under Level 1 Snow Emergency, Caution Urged While Driving

leaf snowThe Meigs County Sheriff has issued a Level 1 Snow Emergency for the county. This means that roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads are also icy. Motorists are urged to drive very cautiously.

As the sun has gone down, the temperatures are dropping and the wet roadways are turning to ice. Meigs County Emergency Services personnel are responding to accidents, and reporting that roads are becoming increasingly slick. It is advised to be aware of the changing road conditions.

The area is under a Winter Weather Advisory from the National Weather Service until 1 a.m. Temperatures are expected to continue to dip tonight, making for a slick morning commute. Motorists are advised to be aware and plan extra time for the road conditions. Secondary roads are expected to slick along with intersections.
