On November 14-15, 2013, twenty students from the Buckeye Hills Career Center (BHCC) SkillsUSA Chapter joined other SkillsUSA students and advisors from the state at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus for the SkillsUSA Ohio State Fall Leadership Conference. Representing more than 60 schools, these students received the necessary training to lead their local chapter of SkillsUSA for the year. In addition to an opening general session, students attended a series of breakouts including chapter leadership, resume presentation, interview presentation, delegate training and officer candidacy training.

Following a festive dance on Thursday night, the students returned to the convention center on Friday morning where 42 Regional Officers were elected that will represent Ohio at the Regional Officer Training Institute in Leesburg, VA. Also, on Friday, those students not involved in elections participated in mock interview sessions with feedback presented after the session. While the students were in training, Advisors received industry and association updates.

SkillsUSA Ohio provides its 31,967 Career-Technical education members the opportunity to participate in local, regional, state and national competitive events, run for elective offices and participate in leadership training. It also encourages students to give back to the community through various community service activities.
