Obit CandleCharles R. Plymale, 80, of Gallipolis, beloved husband of Helen J. (Kuhn) Plymale, died after a brief illness with ALS on April 9, 2014.

He was born May 15, 1933 in Gallia County, son of the late Estus and Elsie Brucker Plymale. Charles was the father of Bonnie (Jim) Jones, Tina (Neil) Nelson and Rodney (Mandy) Plymale; grandfather of Levi Jones, Carrie Jones, Angela Nelson, Matthew Nelson, Miranda Plymale and Zachary Plymale; brother of Mariana Tye, Louella Plymale, Adell Caldwell, Ruby (George) Kinder and Louise Grover.

Charles served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Lackland, Texas and Blyville, Arkansas after graduation from Gallia Academy High School in 1952. He continued his career as an airplane mechanic and later retired from the Clinton County Air Force Base and Air Force Reserves in Wilmington, Ohio. Together, he and his wife relocated to Gallia County to the family farm and enjoyed their passion raising animals and training horses. He loved the Lord, family and friends and his little rat terrier, Cricket. He was a Masonic member and VFW member in Gallipolis.

Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Willis Funeral Home, 12 Garfield Avenue, Gallipolis, Ohio. Friends may call from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery. There will be graveside military services.

Pallbearers will be Gene Waugh, Bill Saxton, Joshua Mills, Levi Jones, Matthew Nelson, and Zachary Plymale.
