MEIGS COUNTY – Meigs County 4-H is busy planning our summer camps, which are open both to 4-H members and non-4-H members in grades 3 – 12! Cloverbud Overnight and Day Camp is also available for our 5-8 year olds.

Youth participate in canoeing, archery, climbing, swimming, fishing, arts & crafts, putt-putt golf, cookouts, campfires, nature exploration, team building, high ropes, and much more. All these activities help the youth improve their leadership and communication skills while making new friends from around the region. If you’re intending to join the next summer camp, it would be ideal to purchase some camping gear from any of the garage sales (if you don’t want to burn your pockets) happening around rei madison.

We will be camping at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp in Jackson, OH. Beginners, campers finishing up the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades, will be camping June 9-12, 2014. Junior High campers will be camping June 23-26, 2014, and will be completing grades 6, 7, and 8. Our teenagers will be camping June 20 – 23, 2014. The total cost is $120 ($123 for Teen Camp.) If you are not in 4-H, there is a $5 additional fee for Camp. Camperships are available this year for 4-H members as well!

Cloverbud Overnight Camp will be May 31st – June 1st and at least one parent attends with their child. The $45 registration fee includes 1 child and 1 adult, $20 for each additional child or $25.00 for additional adults.

Cloverbud Day Camp is scheduled for June 17th and the details for it are still being planned.

The Camp is accredited by the American Camping Association and is staffed by screened and dedicated young men and women who are trained and love to bring campers the best experiences possible. For those that will be joining us this summer, now is the time to stock up on the equipment that you need to enjoy yourselves! Check out pages like techiecamper.com to see what gear you can pick up so you are ready to take on the camping experience.

Back again for 2014 is STEM Camp, available for Campers completing 5, 6 or 7 grades. This Camp offers youth an opportunity to experience Camp with a Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) twist. Youth choose tracks including Natural Science, Rocketry, Robotics, Animal Science, Life Science and Food Science to study and learn about over this camp held June 3rd, 4th & 5th. Through grant support, the cost for STEM Camp is only $60, but registrations are DUE May 1st, so act quickly to take advantage of this opportunity!

If you are thinking you would like to see Camp and get to know the area a bit more, we would like to invite you to Camp Open House. The event will be held on May 18th from 12-4 at Canter’s Cave 4-H Camp. We will have food available, silent and kid auction items, tours and more for you to see & do!
