Junior John (J.J., Blondie) McGuire, 83

Obit CandleJunior John (J.J., Blondie) McGuire, 83, of Gallipolis, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Arbors of Gallipolis.

He was born December 9, 1930, son of the late John and Nellie Wickline McGuire.

While spending his life in Gallia County he was a welder, heavy equipment operator, subdivision developer, restaurant owner, strip mine owner, and a lifetime evangelist. His early years were spent farming while growing up in Mercerville along with his last few years farming along the Ohio River in Gallipolis.

Junior is survived by 5 children, Debbie Clary of Gallipolis, Kathy (Randy) Hall of Proctorville, Saul McGuire of Gallipolis, Tony McGuire of Crown City, and Scott McGuire of Gallipolis; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; the mother of his children, Oreatha McGuire Kaiser of Proctorville; a brother, Jimmie Dale (Inez) McGuire of Mercerville; and a sister, Eleanor Sheldon of Grove City.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Murray and Mabel Beaver, brothers, Carl, Willis Thomas, and Paul David McGuire, a stepbrother Everett McGuire and a stepsister Violet Stumbo.

Services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Willis Funeral Home with Rev. Rocky Jeffers officiating. Final resting place will be Old Mercerville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Tony McGuire, Scott McGuire, Randy McGuire, Thomas Masters, David Haner and Paul Russell.
