Police Force Take Down Armed Robber

CremeansMeigs County Sheriff Keith O. Wood reports on December 28, 2014 at approximately 8 P.M. deputies responded to a reported armed robbery at the Bale and Eggs Store on State Route 684. Upon arrival deputies spoke with the clerk who advised a male had entered the store demanding money and then had fired a weapon at the security system. A witness at the scene also advised deputies of a vehicle description which was then relayed to surrounding law enforcement agencies.

Deputies with the Meigs and Athens County Sheriff’s Office then went to the residence where they located the vehicle as well as Kenneth Cremeans Jr (09/30/1988) who matched the description of the alleged offender. Deputies then took Cremeans into custody pending further investigation of the offense, at approximately 10:00 p.m.; only two hours after the initial call.

Cremeans has been charged with one count aggravated robbery and is being held in the Middleport Jail on a $500,000 bond through Meigs County Court.

Meigs County Deputies were also assisted during the incident by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification, Middleport Police Department and Pomeroy Police Department
