William Junior Birchfield, 86

Obit CandleWilliam Junior Birchfield, 86, of Gallipolis, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at his residence.

He was born December 28, 1928 in Washington Court House, Ohio, son of the late William and Hazel Louden Birchfield. He married Osie Howell Birchfield on April 17, 1954 in Pikeville, Kentucky and she survives him. Junior was a retired custodian/bus driver for the Gallipolis City Schools, member and a former pastor of Dickey Chapel Church.

Surviving are his wife, Osie Birchfield of Gallipolis; two daughters, Deborah (Charles) Stapleton of Crown City and Sharon (Delbert) Williams of Patriot; two grandchildren, Christopher Stapleton of Columbus and Stephanie Harris of Crown City; three great grandsons, Ethan Stapleton and Colin Stapleton, of South Webster and Spencer Harris of Crown City; three sisters, Anis Shoemaker of Proctorville, Betty Boster of Huntington, WV and Alma (Darrell) Canaday of Patriot; two brothers, Burl (Doris) Birchfield of Crown City and Clarence (Katherine) Birchfield of Newark.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, John Birchfield, Otho Birchfield, Maxine Queen, Florence Dean, Beulah Lewis, and Masel Raines.

Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 29, 2015 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastors Sam Queen and Mark Leist officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 6-8:00 p.m.
