Kenneth Howe Kent, Sr. 86

Kenneth Howe Kent, Sr. 86, of Rutland, Ohio and formerly of Clinton, Maryland, passed away at 12:20 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 in the Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis. Born May 8, 1929 in Franklin County, Ohio he was the son of the late Myrle and Edrie Moorehouse Kent. He was a retired electrician from the Corps of Engineers at the Andrews Air Force Base where he worked on many projects throughout the Base. He served his country in the United States Air Force from January 6, 1948 to January 5, 1952 during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Rutland Freewill Baptist Church and also a member of the Gallia County Geological Society.

He is survived by his Wife, Stella L. Honeycutt Kent, his children, Kenneth H. (Sue) Kent, Jr., of Hanover, MD., Elaine (Bruce) Shearer, of Loda, Il., Jay (Mary) Kent, of Rutland, and Teresa (John) Huseman, of La Plata, MD., grandchildren, Candace (Matt) Holt, Stephanie (Michael) Johnson, Amie Christensen, Teri Siddall, Melinda (Tom) Bowling, and John Huseman, great-grandchildren, Sadie Holt, Heather (Mallory) Johnson, Kaila Christensen, Taty and Pyper Siddall, Mathew and Elsie Bowling. A sister Diane (Harold) Anderson, of Zellwood, Fl., a special niece, Margaret Shields, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, Kenneth is preceded in death by his loving first wife of 31 years, Dorothy Kent, grandsons, Kenneth Kent, III, and Corbin Siddall, a great-granddaughter, Natalie Johnson, and a brother, Gordon Kent.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2015 in the Rutland Freewill Baptist Church, 444 Salem St., Rutland, Ohio 45775. Pastor Ed Barney will officiate. Interment with full military honors provided by the Pomeroy American Legion Post #33 will follow in the Rutland Cemetery. Friends may call two hours prior to the funeral at the Church.
