Brenton  Sanford 001Brenton Lee Sanford, age 44, of Wheeling, West Virginia and formerly of Gallipolis, died Monday October 5, 2015 at his residence. Born March 16, 1971 in Wheeling, he was the son of Larry Lee and Susan Lee Merckle Sanford Sr. of Gallipolis.

Brenton was a 1989 graduate of Gallia Academy High School, where he was MVP in wrestling. He attended the Ohio State University and was an Eagle Scout with Troop 208. He was an avid football fan for the Ohio State ‘Buckeye’s’ and Notre Dames,’ Fighting Irish’. Brenton worked as a building contractor.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Larry L. (Bethany) Sanford Jr. of Lancaster, niece and nephews, Ella, Trey and Nicholas Sanford all of Lancaster, uncle, Robert H. (Suzanne) Merckle of Oviedo, FL., aunts, Glinda (John) Bowman of Wheeling, and Debbie Durth of Wheeling, also surviving are several cousins.

Brenton was preceded by an aunt, Sherry Gray.

Funeral services will be 1:30 PM. Monday October 12, 2015 in the Chapel of Hope at Ohio Valley Memory Gardens. Friends may call on Sunday from 6-8 PM. at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home.
