Smith recognized at 2016 Ohio 4-H Achievement Awards

COLUMBUS – The 2016 Ohio 4-H Achievement Awards were presented recently at the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center in Columbus during which a Meigs Countian was among those recognized.

Gage Smith, 18, of Racine, was recognized with the Gardening and Horticulture Achievement Award which was sponsored by The James and Helen Dusthimer Family. Smith is a five-year 4-H member that is active in gardening and horticulture projects. The evening was hosted by the Ohio 4-H Foundation.

Smith is the grandson of the late Delbert Smith. A graduate of Southern High School, he is currently enrolled as a freshman at the Ohio State University Agricultural Technological Institute, majoring in agribusiness.

The 4-H Achievement Award winners will attend the National 4-H Congress with youth from all over the country in November in Atlanta, Georgia.

Ohio 4-H is the youth development program of Ohio State University Extension, with more than 285,000 young Ohioans participating in 4-H clubs, groups and special interest programs.
