POMEROY – Pomeroy Fire Department responded to a one vehicle fire along Main Street Tuesday evening.

A white Volkswagen Jetta was fully engulfed when the firemen arrived on the scene according to Lieutenant Brody Davis with the Pomeroy Fire Department. He said the fire appears to have started in the passenger compartment. He added that the cause of the fire was undetermined, but was probably started with an electrical issue.

According to the driver, that asked not to be identified, he saw smoke rolling out from under the dash and pulled over. He pulled into the parking lot by the baseball fields on Main Street.

The car is a total loss. The interior was completely burnt. No one was injured including the driver.

Pomeroy Police Department also responded. Traffic was briefly stopped while the fire was extinguished. Pomeroy Fire Department responded with Pumper 1 and about a half dozen firefighters.
