Margie Colleen Cunningham, 95

Christian candle cross obitMargie Colleen Cunningham, 95, of Syracuse went to see her heavenly Savior on Saturday, October 22, 2016. Surrounded by her family, she passed peacefully at her home on Water Street, Syracuse, Ohio. She was born on August 26, 1921, in Syracuse, to parents Abalene and Ethel Quillen Moore. Married to her husband of 57 years, Claude “Hambone” Cunningham, they wed on December 23, 1940.

She was a graduate of Pomeroy High School, Class of 1939. Kind and soft spoken, she was a homemaker and a woman of strong faith. She attended The Mission Church, Syracuse, where she played the piano. She enjoyed reading the Bible, going to church, playing the piano and baking from scratch for her family. She loved to impart life lessons from the Bible. When you would go and visit her, it wouldn’t be uncommon to see the Holy Bible lying open on her davenport.

Surviving are her children, Robert (Sharon) Cunningham; daughters Rita Cunningham, Claudia (Charlie) Divers, Sue Ellen (Bob) Lemley; brother Bob Moore; grandchildren Vicki (Ed) Nottingham, Robbie Cunningham, Drema Owens Hysell, Cris (Robert) Williams, Doug (Candi) Owens, Shawn (Leanne) Cunningham, Cindy (Doug) Eblin, Cassi Owens, Melinda “Mendy” Lemley, Shelly (Todd) Price, Margilee Boykins and Dennis Boykins; great-grandchildren Linzie (Rickie) Causey, Nic (Ashley) Nottingham, Joe (Jenny) Nottingham, Kyle (Brittany) Cunningham, Brooke Cunningham, Sydney Hysell, Jeremy Yeauger, Leslie Yeauger, Kali Cunningham, Brayden Cunningham, Charlie (Brittany) Eblin, Nate Eblin, Mykal Burns, Brynn Owens, Sebastian Lemley, Melinda “Sis” Queen, Breanna (Wes) Davis, Josh Price, Dravin Boykins, Jurnee Boykins; great-great-grandchildren Finn Causey, Hannah Faulisi, Nicole, J. C. , Jackson Nottingham, Riley Nottingham, Leia Yeauger, Brynlee and Boston Eblin, Connor and Raelynn Lemley, Kenzie Price, Jaylynn George and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Abalene and Ethel Quillen Moore; husband, Claude “Hambone” Cunningham; brothers, Carl Moore, Maurice Moore, Lloyd Moore, Charles Moore, Donald Moore and Gerald Moore and an infant sister.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. at Ewing-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Pomeroy, Ohio on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 with the service to follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mike Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at the Gilmore Cemetery.
