According to Sheriff Wood, the US Marshals Service, the Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission’s Gallia-Meigs Major Crime Task Force and Meigs, Gallia and Washington County Sheriff’s Offices worked together to arrest Javion James Rodgers Jr., 23 of Detroit, Michigan. Rodgers had a nationwide warrant for his arrest on a murder charge out of Detroit, Michigan.

Rodgers was “taken into custody without incident” according to Sheriff Wood. Rodgers was arrested by law enforcement officers on South Third Avenue in Middleport, Ohio. Rodgers was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office. He was booked into the jail on a Fugitive from Justice charge. He will appear in the Meigs County Court at a later date on the charge.

Sheriff Wood expressed gratitude for the multi-agency effort “involved in the capture of this very dangerous person.”

Sheriff Wood states that community involvement is very important to the policing of our communities. He said it was an anonymous tip made to the Major Crimes Task Force led to a Task Force Agent making a positive identification on Rodgers which resulted in his arrest.
