MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio – Masonic lodges throughout the county recently installed new officers.

Freemasonry is the oldest, largest and most widely recognized fraternal organization in the world. Today, there are more than 2 million Freemasons in North America alone. Charity is an important tenet of the Masonic fraternity. The 90,000 Freemasons in Ohio provide approximately $15 million in charitable giving annually, including college scholarships, support of the Special Olympics Ohio Summer Games, and free training for Ohio school teachers to recognize students at non-academic risk. Harrisonville Masonic Lodge
Harrisonville Masonic Lodge No. 411 in Harrisonville recently installed new officers. Installed were Treasurer Dan Arnold, Worshipful Master Roger Gibson, Senior Warden Jordan Pickens, Chaplain Larry Well, Junior Warden Glenn Brown, Secretary Jesse Pullins, Senior Deacon Jerry Well, PDDGM Tyler Ron Casto, and Junior Deacon Glenn Kennedy, Senior Steward Charlie Wilson and Junior Steward Eddie Wilson. Harrisonville Masonic Lodge meets the first Saturday of each month with fellowship and meals beginning at 6:30 p.m. and meetings beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Harrisonville Masonic Lodge was chartered October 21, 1868 and is marking their 150 years for the lodge this year.

Middleport Masonic Lodge

Jonathan Newsome of Middleport has been elected and installed as Master of MiddleportMasonic Lodge No. 363. Newsome was installed by RWB Donald L. Stivers, Past District Deputy Grand Master of the 12th Masonic District and Past Master of Middleport Masonic Lodge and Shade River Masonic Lodge. This 151st annual installation of officers was held December 5, 2017 at The Middleport Masonic Temple.

In his position as Master, Newsome is the presiding officer and head of the Lodge. The title of “Master,” instead of “President,” reflects the Masonic tradition of using ceremonies and titles from the stonemasons of the Middle Ages. When the great cathedrals of Europe were being built, the Mason in charge of a building site was referred to as a “master of the work.”

Other officers installed during the ceremony were Gary Coleman – Senior Warden, Jordan Pickens- Junior Warden, Guy Bing II – Secretary, Jeffery Fields – Treasurer, Jeff Warner – Senior Deacon, Casey Pickens – Junior Deacon, Donald Stivers – Chaplain and Lodge Education Officer, Billy Goble – Tyler, Ed Neutzling – Senior Steward and Trustee, Beau Diddle – Junior Steward.

Pomeroy-Racine Masonic Lodge

Robert Cleek of has been elected and installed as Master of Pomeroy-Racine Masonic Lodge No. 164. Cleek was installed by WB Steven Trussell, Past Master of Shade River Lodge No. 453 of Chester and Siloam Lodge No. 456 of Cheshire. WB Guy Bing, District Education Officer of the Twelfth Masonic District and Past Master of Middleport Lodge No. 363 served as Installing Marshall. RWB Donald Stivers, Past District Deputy Grand Master of the Twelfth Masonic District, and Past Master of Middleport Lodge No. 363 and Shade River No. 453 served as installing Chaplain. This 169th annual installation of officers was held Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Pomeroy – Racine Masonic Lodge in Racine, Ohio.

When the great cathedrals of Europe were being built, the Mason in charge of a building site was referred to as a “master of the work.” Pomeroy – Racine Masonic Lodge No. 164 meets the third Thursday of every month with refreshments and fellowship at 6:30 followed by the regularly stated meeting beginning at 7:30 p.m.
