Robert Eugene “Bob” Byer, 83
Robert Eugene “Bob” Byer, 83, of Syracuse, Ohio passed away on June 17, 2018. He was born o February 13, 1935 in Middleport, Ohio son of the late Kenneth and Teresa Byer.
Bob was member of the Heath United Methodist Church. He was a United States Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 128 in Middleport and the VFW in Tuppers Plains. He was also a life member of the Middleport Fire Department and a 51 year member of the Masonic Lodge #363. Bob was the former administrator for Emergency Sevices.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Byer; his children, Julie (Jeff) Hubbard, Larry (Lisa) Byer and Mary Byer-Hill; grandchildren, Sarah (Josh) Hupp, Molly Ann Hill, Scott (Jennifer) Hubbard and Stacey Hubbard; great-grandchildren, Layne Hupp, Preston and Ciera Thorla and Harley and AJ Hubbard; brother, Charles Byer; nephews, Kenny (Susie) Byer and John (Mary) Byer; and sister-in-law, Hazel McKelvey.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy. Burial will follow Greenwood Cemetery in Racine where military honors will be provided by the American Legion. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home with a Fireman’s honor service at 7:30 p.m. and Masonic services at 7:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob Byer may be made to either the Middleport Fire Department, 286 Race Street, Middleport, OH 45760 or the Heath United Methodist Church, 339 South 3rd St., Middleport, OH 45760.
