GALLIPOLIS – Thefeatured holidays are here and while for some it is a time and family and good cheer, some see it as an opportunity for criminal activity.

According to the Gallia County Chamber of Commerce, someone has been attempting to pass off phony bills. It a statement released this morning, Michelle Miller, Gallia County Chamber Director, “We received a call from Farmers Bank this morning reporting counterfeit $100 bills have been used locally. The bills appear to be copied and do not have the proper security features of a real $100 bill. Please use caution.”

Bills should be checked for the proper security features. Anyone receiving a counterfeit bill should contact local law enforcement.
