Obit CandleGeorge C. Evans, Granville, Ohio passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, son of George Morgan and Marjorie (Beaver) Evans. George received his BS Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Rio Grande in 1962; a M.ED. Degree from Marshall University of Huntington, West Virginia in 1964 and Education Specialist Certification from Ohio University of Athens in 1973. He was a retired administrator from Wilson Jr. High, Newark, Ohio and prior to that he had served as Principal and Boys Basketball Coach at Hannon Trace High School, Mercerville, Ohio in the mid-1960’s. He married Mary Elizabeth Evans August 21, 1960 in Rio Grande, Ohio who survives.

Also surviving are children: Gwynn Evans (Jonathan) Harrison, Harrisburg, Virginia and George Wade Evans, Lithia, Florida; grandchildren: George Andrew Evans, Jackson Robert Evans, Tristen Evans, William Harrison, Bryn Evans and Jake Evans Harrison; sisters: Florence (Ed) Greasamar, Newport, North Carolina and Sharon (Joe) Clark, Columbus, Ohio; brother-in-law, Clyde (Rosemary) Evans, Rio Grande, Ohio; nieces: Margaret Evans (David) Smalley, Rio Grande, Ohio; Sarah Evans (Joe) Moore, Bidwell, Ohio and Nancy (Scott) Seeberg, Springfield, Ohio; Angela (Tony) Vanover and Sharon (Brian) Mosley; nephews: Dylan (Angela Leister) Evans, Columbus, Ohio; Brian (Caitlin) Petrie; George Payne and Robert Payne as well as several extended family members.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by sister, Jean Evans Payne and nephew, Joseph Clark.

Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday, February 13, 2014 in the Tyn Rhos Cemetery near Rio Grande, Ohio.
