Chase Crosses County Lines, Ends in Crash

stars-storyGALLIA AND MEIGS COUNTIES – Area law enforcement were on a high speed chase that crisscrossed back and forth between Gallia and Meigs before ending in a crash on Monday night.

It started in Gallipolis with a traffic stop at the Ohio River Plaza when Gallipolis Department Officers recognized a woman driving a 2002 Mazda Protege on an outstanding warrant. That was when the chase ensued as allegedly, Holly Rose, 33, of Vinton took off, according to Lieutenant Max Norris, Commander of the Gallipolis Post 27 of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Rose allegedly led GPD on the chase up Route 7. An OSP trooper then joined the chase just outside of Gallipolis.

Rose turned left onto Story’s Run and then to Jessie Creek Road. In the process, she crossed to Meigs County then back to Gallia and then ended up just 50 feet inside the Meigs County line when the car struck a tree.

Rose was taken by Medflight to Cabell Huntington Hospital. Also transported was her passenger, Richard Camp, 33, also of Vinton. Both were listed as having serious injuries.

Lt. Norris said neither was wearing the seat belts and both air bags deployed.

He said the investigation is ongoing. He noted that the OHP is handling the chase and crash, but other possible charges would be handled by Gallipolis PD. Rose also allegedly had materials for the making of methamphetamines.

Meigs County Sheriff’s Office along with EMS and the Middleport Fire Department responded to the scene.
