Bernard Rossiter obit picture 001Bernard Leon Rossiter, age 68Bernard Leon Rossiter, age 68, of Gallipolis, ‘Went to be with the Lord’ on Friday evening July 24, 2015 at Holzer Medical Center. Born August 22, 1946 in Lawrence County, he was the son of the late Ova and Nancy Marie Caldwell Rossiter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by three brothers, Merrill, Carl and Wendall Rossiter, as well as his mother in law, Louise Daniels.

Bernard worked most of his life driving trucks and operating heavy equipment. He loved driving trucks. He also loved riding motorcycles, singing in church, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Mina Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Bernard also served in the National Guard from 1965 to 1972.

He is survived by his wife, Shelba Daniels Rossiter, who he married on November 18, 1967, two daughters, Carla Rossiter, and Kim (Mike) Green both of Gallipolis. A granddaughter, Phylicia (Justin) Carter of Gallipolis. Two great grandchildren, Shelbie Dawn Carter, and Justin Michael Leo Carter. Two brothers, Gary Dean Rossiter and Roger Rossiter both of Gallipolis, a sister, Wanda Mohler of Middleport, a special niece, Jodi McQuaid, an his special companion, his dog, Teddy.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Thursday July 30, 2015 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Workman officiating. Burial will follow in Swan Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-9 PM. Pallbearers will be: Mike Green, Justin Carter, Terry Norman, Dean Martin, Jack Northup, and David Snyder. Honorary pallbearers will be: Steve Watterson, Jeff Mullins and Marty Church.
