sarahgraceATHENS COUNTY, Ohio – Athens resident and small business owner Sarah Grace announced today her candidacy for the Ohio House of Representatives’ 94th District, which includes Athens, Meigs, Vinton and Washington Counties.

“As a working mother and small business owner, I know how important jobs are to our community,” said Grace. “I am running for office because I believe our region needs thoughtful, energetic and motivated leadership to be our voice in Columbus.”

Sarah Grace first came to Athens as a student in Ohio University’s Honor’s Tutorial College. After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Biology, she worked as a Legislative Research Assistant for an environmental resource management committee in the Florida House of Representatives. Four years later, Sarah returned to Athens County where she and her husband, Todd, chose to settle and raise their family. Sarah and Todd became the owners and operators of a rental property company and a small retail business. Sarah has experienced, first hand, both the benefits and frustrations of owning a small business.

Sarah understands the challenges that face working families. She plans to work at the state level to not only improve employment opportunities, but to also provide the support families need through improvements to paid family leave and affordable childcare options.

As a mother of four children, Sarah Grace recognizes the importance of a quality public education system, and will be an advocate for students and teachers. “I am passionate about the educational needs of children in this region,” said Grace. “All children deserve an education that will inspire and prepare them for their future, not an education full of excessive mandated testing. I have worked tirelessly to find the best educational opportunities for my children and I will use my experience to represent fellow parents who are concerned about their children’s future.”

Bringing together the themes of education, family and jobs is Sarah’s dedication to promoting the development and use of alternative energy, such as wind and solar. She wants to use her education in science to work for innovative and responsible development that will grow the economy while safe-guarding the environment for the next generation.

In addition to owning and operating a small business, Sarah Grace gives back to her community by lending her support to many charities and service organizations. She currently holds the position of treasurer for a local Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), and she helped establish an educational cooperative to assist local parents and students.

Sarah Grace has an accomplished record as an entrepreneur and problem-solver. She will use her strong community ties and passion for education to fight for the needs of District 94.
