Deputy’s Notebook for Dec. 22-24 includes domestic calls and well-being checks

MEIGS COUNTY – The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office noted several calls December 22 through December 24, 2016.

December 22, 2016 the Sheriff’s Office responded to a couple of calls involving a car crash and juveniles along the road.

Vehicle Accident: Deputies responded to 35093 Titus Rd reference vehicle accident. All occupants suffered minor injuries and were transported via Meigs EMS to Holzer Emergency Room Pomeroy.

Juveniles: Four Juveniles were found walking in the roadway at 4 a.m. on Abbott Road. Two females were transported to a residence on Abbott road. Two males were transported to a residence on State Route 833.

On December 23, the deputies were busy with numerous calls and other duties.

Well-being check: Sgt. Rick Patterson and Deputy C. Patterson responded to a residence after receiving information about some Facebook posts a subject had recently posted. The caller was concerned for the person’s safety. Contact was made at the residence and the subject responsible for the posts was transported to Meigs ER.

Well-being check: Deputy Michael Hupp and Deputy Patterson responded to a residence after 911 received an odd call from a female asking if everyone was okay and then repeating everything the EMS dispatcher said. Contact was made with female, she had a new phone and didn’t realize she had made a call.

Domestic complaint: A man came into the Sheriff’s Office and reported an active domestic assault at 2330 4th St. in Syracuse. Deputy Leif Babb and Deputy Chris Jones were dispatched to the complaint. While in route to the scene dispatch advised that the suspect, Michael Hammon, left the scene in a gold car. Deputy Babb intercepted and stopped the vehicle with the suspect in Minersville. Deputy Jones continued on to the scene and made contact with the victim who advised that she had been assaulted by Hammon and gave a written statement. Hammon was arrested for the alleged domestic at the scene of the traffic stop and transported to jail.

Warrant arrest: While investigating a domestic complaint on 4th St. in Syracuse, Deputy Jones checked the ID of a subject at the scene. It was discovered the subject Mikel Milhoan Jr. had an OSP traffic warrant for his arrest in Athens County. Milhoan was taken into custody and transported to the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office where he was picked up by an Ohio State Trooper and transported to Athens County to post bond on the charge.

Sex offender: Sgt. Patterson registered one sex offender.

Among other things, on Christmas Eve the deputies made a well-being check and handled a domestic complaint.

Domestic complaint: Deputy Perry and Sgt Patterson responded to a residence on Salem School Lot Rd on a possible domestic violence situation. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and determined that it was just a verbal argument. The male subject was allowed to retrieve his belongings and leave the residence.

Well-being check: Children Services requested a unit to check a residence in Syracuse after they received a call reporting an elderly female staying at the residence in poor living conditions. Sgt. Patterson and Deputy J. Perry responded to the residence. After making contact with the female it was determined that there were several animals living in the residence and it was not being properly maintained. A time frame was given for the residence to be cleaned up and the information was passed along to Children Services/Adult Protective Services.

Traffic stops: Meigs County Sheriff’s Office was donated a box full of toys to be passed along to kids during the Christmas Holiday. Deputy Jones and Deputy Perry made 10 traffic stops and passed out 23 gifts during those stops.

On Christmas Eve, deputies responded to a 911 transferred call.

Domestic complaint: 911 transferred an active domestic call to our office at 46399 Scout Camp Road Chester Ohio. Sgt. Donald Mohler and Deputy Jones arrived on scene on made contact with the caller. The caller was in an extreme state of intoxication and after an investigation it was determined that it was not likely that a domestic had occurred. A squad arrived at the scene at the caller’s request and transported her to the Meigs ER to be medically cleared. No further action was taken by the deputies on this call.
