Meigs under Winter Weather and Wind Chill Advisory as temperatures drop

POMEROY, Ohio - Meigs County along with the surrounding areas are under a Winter Weather Advisory as temperatures will drop throughout the day.

According to the advisory issued by the National Weather Service, the advisory is in effect until noon January 29, 2019. A Wind Chill Advisory, however, is in effect from noon January 30 to 1 p.m. on January 31.

Rapidly falling temperatures may create flash freeze conditions from earlier rain. Scatttered snow showers will bring snow accumulations of less than one inch. Very cold wind chills are expected. Wind chills as low as 15 below zero are expected.

Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will combine to create low wind chills. Frostbite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
