Racine’s Independence Day Parade and Celebration Schedule

RACINE, Ohio – Racine is set to celebrate American independence with hometown flare on July 4, 2019.

The parade lineup will begin at 9 a.m. at the Southern School parking lot. No registration is required to participate. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. taking the usual route going from the school parking lot onto Elm Street to Third Street to Vine Street then onto Fifth Street before looping back to Elm and ending back at the school parking lot.

Following the parade at 11 a.m. the Racine Firefighters Association and Ladies Auxiliary will have a chicken BBQ and homemade ice cream. Dinners will be available for a $9 donation to the Association. Halves are $7. Ice cream will be a $3 donation to the Racine VFD Ladies Auxiliary. Flavors this year are vanilla, pistachio, butter pecan, lemon, chocolate, pineapple, cherry nut, banana, peach, and strawberry.

The celebration continues with events at Star Mill Park with registration for the frog jumping contest beginning at 4:30 p.m. The frog jumping contest will begin at 5 p.m. Concessions will be available along with vendors in the park as well. A DJ will be playing music from 5 p.m. until the fireworks get underway. There will be a flag hunt at 7 p.m. followed by a pet costume contest at 8 p.m. For more information on vendor space or the activities in Star Mill Park, contact Ashli Peterman at740-416-0684.

The whole celebration comes down to the annual fireworks display by the Racine Fire Department at 10 p.m. at the park. Organizers note that it is due to donations from local businesses and individuals that make the fireworks display possible. Each year the volunteer firefighters train and prepare for the event.
