Multiple law enforcement agencies execute warrant at Skatopia

RUTLAND, Ohio – The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office has been involved in a multi-agency effort to execute a warrant in an investigation that led them to Skatopia near Rutland.

Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood told the Meigs Independent Press, his office has been working today with an effort involving the Secret Service, US Marshal Service, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and Gallia-Meigs Major Crimes Task Force. Sheriff Wood said that the Secret Service has been looking for an individual, whose name was not released, in a fraud case. In the course of the search for the suspect, authorities believed the subject to be on the property known as Skatopia. During the course of the execution of a warrant for the suspect, authorities discovered alleged evidence in which another individual will be charged in an unrelated matter. Sheriff Wood did not release the name of the other individual, but did say the investigation is ongoing and more information would be forthcoming as soon as possible.

Sheriff Wood did want to note to the public that with the suspect being sought by the Secret Service and other authorities, he believed there was no threat to the people of Meigs County.

Locations in Parkersburg and Marietta were also searched.

The Meigs Independent Press will have more on this developing story as more information becomes available.
