Meigs Increases to 27 Active COVID-19 Cases with Outbreak at Nursing Facility

POMEROY, Ohio – The Meigs County Health Department is reporting 10 additional confirmed cases and three additional probable case of COVID-19 in Meigs County. Today’s cases of COVID-19 bring Meigs County to 27 active cases, and 56 total cases (43 Confirmed, 13 Probable) since April.

Twelve of today’s cases are associated with an outbreak at Overbrook Rehabilitation Center. These cases are a combination of staff and residence, which appear to be concentrated to one area of the facility. According to the Meigs County Health Department, Overbrook will be releasing a statement later today via Facebook to further address the cases and response at the facility. The Meigs County Health Department states they are continuing to work closely with Overbrook throughout this evolving situation.

The Meigs County Health Department stated, “We ask residents to please refrain from calling the Health Department for questions regarding these cases while we complete our disease investigations and notify relevant individuals. The cases and individuals identified as contacts of the case will be advised to self-quarantine in accordance with CDC guidance.”

The health department urges residents to continue following federal, state, and local guidance to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
