Royalty Crowning and More During Junior Fair Opening Ceremony

ROCKSPRINGS, Ohio – The 2020 Meigs County Fair kicked off with opening ceremonies in the Ridenour Livestock Arena. Highlights of the event included the crowning of fair royalty and awards being handed out.

Krista McKay was crowned the 2020 Meigs County Fair Queen. She is the daughter of James McKay and Melody (Michael) Bailey from Long Bottom, Ohio. Nevada Johnson was crowned the 2020 Meigs County Fair Livestock Princess. She is the 11-year-old daughter of Richard and Collette Johnson from Reedsville, Ohio.

Usually the Meigs County Fair starts with the Junior Fair Parade around the race track ending in front of the Grandstand. With COVID-19 restrictions, however, clubs did not gather with floats. Instead there was a scaled back opening ceremony. Governor Mike DeWine and the order from the Ohio Health Department to allow only Junior Fair activities such as livestock shows occur changed things. Until about two weeks before the 2020 Meigs County Fair, the Meigs County Agricultural Society which operates and owns the Meigs County Fairgrounds had been planning on a modified, but full fair. The board members came together to quickly adapted plans for having a Junior Fair only.
