William Kenneth Cogar, Sr., 80, of Syracuse

William Kenneth Cogar, Sr., 80, of Syracuse, Ohio passed away on November 27, 2020. He was born on April 11, 1940 in Grantsville West Virginia son of late Lafe and Edith Kight-Cogar. He was a truck driver, coal miner, and worked in construction. He was a member of the Racine Gun Club. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish, cut wood, and tinker outside. 

He is preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Shirley Ann Cogar-Heilmann.
Along with his three children William Cogar Jr., Shari Cogar ( Allen ), and Kimberly Cogar-Fetty ( Michael).

Seven grandchildren Timothy Cogar ( Christa ), Christopher Cogar, JoAuana Fetty, Ericka Bonnett ( Michael), Kayla Fetty,  Michael Barrett Jr. , and Brittany Perry ( Jeff ), Gage Barrett, and Breanna Barrett. 
He is also survived by several great-grandchildren, great-nieces, great-nephews, two brothers , four sisters and very special friends Jr Vancooney, Ronnie Powell, Roger Coates, and Les Frank. 

We want to give a special thanks to Dr. Ashraf and the nursing staff at Holzer Health System in the ICU. 

He was an old soul that will be greatly missed.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at the Cogar Cemetery on Eagle Ridge Road at 11 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Anderson McDaniel Funeral Home in Pomeroy.
