Meigs Under Flash Flood Watch as Ida Remnants Move Through

RACINE, Ohio – The impact of Hurricane Ida will be felt for some time to come. Before what is left of the system moves through heavy rainfall amounts leading to local flooding are expected as the National Weather Service announces a Flash Flood Watch for Meigs County and the surrounding areas.

According to the National Weather Service, the Flash Flood Watch is in effect from Tuesday, Aug. 31 through the afternoon of Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021. Flash Flood Watch includes all of Meigs County, northeast Kentucky, southeast Ohio, southwest Virginia and West Virginia.

Heavy rainfall is expected with the remnants of Hurricane Ida. The rainfall is expected to impact the area beginning on Tuesday. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are expected to occur through Wednesday afternoon, with locally higher amounts of up to 6 inches possible. These amounts could result in flash flooding, especially in areas that receive the most intense rainfall.
