Fire Destroys Syracuse Home

SYRACUSE, Ohio – Three fire departments worked to extinguish a structure fire in Syracuse on Nov. 2.

Around 9:30 p.m. the call came in of a structure fire at the intersection of Bridgeman and College Streets. In addition to the Syracuse Fire Department, Racine and Pomeroy Fire Departments were also responded to assist Syracuse.

Syracuse Fire Chief Bill Roush said it appears the fire started in the garage and spread to the house, but he was going to call the State Fire Marshal in as it was unclear what started the fire. He stated the fire does not appear to be suspicious. The structure appears to be a total loss.

“I am glad we had the other departments,” Chief Roush said.

Also responding were Syracuse Police Department, Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, Meigs EMS, and AEP.
