The Church Mouse: Wandering Off the Path

“I have gone astray like a lost sheep;…”(Psalms 119:176)

Have you taken a trip and got lost lately? Oh, I know most men will not admit that they are lost and they’re certainly not stopping to ask directions. I guess somewhere in their minds they think that is a sign of weakness!

Well, in this modern day it would seem like there is no excuse for getting lost. After all most of us have GPS in our cars or on our phones. Some folks still have those paper road maps, which by the way are becoming obsolete and collector items.

Anyway, all these modern devices are ok, until you get to someplace that is not programed into the system.

Then the GPS will go crazy with instructions, like informing you to make a U-Turn as soon as you can do so safely. Let me tell you the Highway Patrol does not like that idea of making U-turns. Don’t ask me how I know this! (LOL).

As Christians we often go astray. Not because that was our intention but sometimes we wander off the path that Jesus set for us. We get distracted or we just simply do not pay attention to our surroundings and first the thing you know we are headed away from God. No one ever sets out to get lost…it just happens.

We have a built in GPS, in our bodies it is called our Godly conscience, but like me we just don’t follow the directions it gives us until we are in a big mess. We just do not listen to it. We seem to think that we are so much smarter and we don’t need to include God in everything we do and say. Or we think that God is to busy for us to bother Him with the small stuff.

Fortunately, for us God is always there waiting for us to come to our senses and make a U-Turn back to him; and unlike the Highway Patrol, no warnings or tickets are issued, God just forgives and forgets!!

Prayer

Father, God thank you for your saving grace! But most of all thank you for your abundant mercy.  We know that we are easily and often distracted from your path; guide us to make the proper U-turn back to you. Help us Father, to remember that you love us no matter what we do. Help us to remember you will always accept us back into your fold and for that we are grateful. Give us guidance at all times to help keep us on the path to heaven. In Jesus name, Amen.
