Betty Eileen Smalley Reid, 87
Betty Eileen Smalley Reid, 87, of Pataskala, Ohio, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, after a life well-lived, serving her Lord and loving family.
She stood up strong and brave against illness in her final days, with her Lord and Saviour, and her family by her side. She was born on November 9, 1934, in Chester, Ohio. Daughter of Hallie Hobart Smalley (Gaye Baker Smalley) and Vermont Brown Smalley Markins (Kenneth O. Markins).
Betty was preceeded in death by her husband, Robert L. Reid; siblings, Walter Terrell, Virginia Dean, and Junior Hobart Smalley.
She is survived by sibling, Donna Young; children, Robert Bruce Reid (Edith), Virginia Reid Koselke (Tom), Rodney Lee Reid, and David Ray Reid; grandchildren, Robert Bruce Reid, Jr., Charles Justin Reid, Joshua Travis Smith, and Mica Koselke Smith; numerous, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Betty retired from Western Electric (AT&T, Lucent) after 33 years of service. She was a member of Oakthorpe Church in Oakthorpe, Ohio. She was a 60-plus year member of the Columbia Center Community Church. She was also a long-time member of the Summit Seniors, the Lima Seniors, the Friendly Buckeyes, and the Willing Workers. In her spare time, Betty handmade hundreds of beautiful quilts to donate to the Lancaster Veteran’s Home.
Her family will receive friends at the Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home at 289 S. Main St. in Pataskala, on Monday, July 25, 2022, from 5-7 p.m., and on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at noon. Service will be officiated by Pastor Lou Miller. Interment to follow at the Pataskala Cemetery at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospitals.
