Meigs County Fair

Hog Roast

The Columbia Township Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting their 15th Annual Hog Roast beginning at 1 p.m. at the fire station. The station is located at 29446 State Route 143, Albany, Ohio 45710.

Book Club

Book Club returns to the Meigs County District Public Library in Pomeroy at 4 p.m. The Book Club will be reading and discussing The Givers of Stars by Jojo Moyes at the August meeting. To obtain a copy of the book contact 740-992-5813 or stop by the Pomeroy Library. The Book Club meets on the fourht Monday of each month at 4 p.m. in the Riverview Room at the Pomeroy Library.

Emergency Prepping

There will be an Introduction to Emergency Planning and Survivial seminar from 7-8 p.m. at the Ewing-Swartzel Family Center located at 112 Second Avenue in Pomeroy. For more information contact Larry Wilcoxen at 740-361-6984.

MCSWD Board Meeting

The Meigs Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors will hold their regular meeting on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at noon at the district office. The office is located at 113 E. Memorial Drive, Suite D in Pomeroy.

Small-Scale Specialty Meat Farming Class

There will be a class on Small-Scale Specialty Meat Farming at the Pomeroy Library at 6 p.m. in the Riverview Room. The presentation is by Central State University Extension. Learn which animals may be grown in smaller areas to provide meat for the grower to sell for a premium.

Inspirational Book Club

There will be an Inspiration Book Club meeting at the Pomeroy location of the Meigs County District Public Library from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the Riverview Room. The group reads one book per month and meets on the fourth Friday of each month to discuss the title.

Ice Cream Social

The Annual Ice Cream Social at the Bashan Volunteer Fire Department will begin at 11 a.m. Ice cream is $3 a cup, $5 a pint, $10 a quart. Flavors include chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, pineapple, black walnut, lemon, cherry vanilla, butter pecan, chocolate peanut butter, red raspberry. Food will be provided by the Carmel Sutton Friendship Circle. The fire department is located at 33478 Bashan Road, Long Bottom, Ohio.

September 3-4
Third Annual Jordan Hardwick Memorial Co-ed Softball Tournament

All the event proceeds go toward the Jordan Hardwick Memorial Female Student Athlete Scholarship. Begins at 8 p.m. both nights and goes until 11 p.m. or until games are completed on the fourth at the Syracuse Ball Fields. This will be a teen (15-19) and adult (20 plus) tournament. Seven guys plus three girls, 44/400 balls, and start with 1 and 1 count with a free foul. Concessions will be available. Genealogy Fair

Who do you think you are? The Genealogy Fair is for beginning and experienced researchers.
There is no charge to attend. The event will be at the Old Chester Academy in Chester, Ohio from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wifi & Ancestry.com available. There will be a Genealogy Class in the Academy Dining Area at 9 a.m. for beginners. Food will be available all day. The event is sponsored by the Chester Shade Historical Association. Meigs County Board of Commissioners Meeting
The County Commissioners meet every Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Board of Commissioners offices at the Meigs County Courthouse. The office is now located on the second floor.

Inspirational Book Club

Second and Fourth Tuesdays
Acousitic Night at the Library

Acousitc Night at the Library is every second and fourth Tuesdays of the month Pomeroy Library. Musicians are invited to play and sing a variety of music including bluegrass, light rock, country, and gospel. Singers are also welcome. All skill levels are invited to attend. Beginners are encouraged to learn from experienced players.

Needlework Network

The Needlework Network is a group of fabric artists who meet each week at the Pomeroy Library to work on their projects, share tips, and socialize. New members and visitors are always welcome. Bring your current projects to share with others. Veteran knitters will be available to provide assistance, and learners are always welcome. Yarn, knitting needles and crochet hooks are available for practice. All types of needlework welcome including quilting, embroidery, crochet, knitting, sewing, needlepoint and more. The group meets each Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in the Riverview Room at the Pomeroy Library.
