Volunteers laying over 3,000 wreaths this weekend

MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio – Volunteers will be laying more than 3,000 wreaths on the graves of veterans in three counties this weekend.

Wreath Adventures, a subdivision of Wreaths Across America, was started by Craig Matheny back in 2011 by organizing and taking bus trips to Arlington National Cemetery and laying wreaths on graves of fallen soldiers with Wreaths Across America. The bus trips continued until 2019 when there was not enough people to make the bus trip. That’s when Matheny decided to bring the wreaths to Southeast Ohio. He took the money raised for that trip which was $3,500, and contacted Wreaths Across America. Matheny was able to cover three cemeteries with 350 wreaths. This Saturday, Wreath Adventures will be covering 25 cemeteries in three counties with over 3,000 wreaths.
