Imaging and Radiology Services Available at Holzer Health System
Holzer Health System offers advanced imaging and radiology services for our patients. “We offer Computed Tomography (CT), OB, General and Vascular Ultrasound, Bone Densitometry, 2D and 3D Mammography, Stereotactic Breast Biopsy, Nuclear Medicine, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Interventional Radiology, X-Ray, and Fluoroscopy,” said Chris Thomas, CNMT, Executive Director, Imaging Services, Holzer Health System.
Thomas shared that Holzer offers x-ray at most locations, and a wide array of imaging options at our Gallipolis, Jackson and Athens locations making it convenient for patients to have access to quality care. Technologists at each location are encouraged to learn from one another to provide the best care possible.
“Having multiple modalities with a variety of technologists specialized in their given fields, gives them the opportunity to problem solve,” said Thomas. “They are able to bounce ideas off each other or provide feedback on techniques, etc.”
Imaging technologists can see the body from the inside out. Thomas shared that was the reason he chose to go into the field.
“I found this field interesting. From the outside, you cannot see inside the body,” said Thomas. “Imaging technology enables us to take what is hidden and make it visible. Being able to provide technology that helps providers diagnose and treat disease appropriately is my favorite part of my profession.”
Thomas was born at Holzer in 1972. He has come to the system for care for several years and shared that he wanted to work at a reputable healthcare facility with a family-oriented atmosphere.
“I’m from this area, and I’m blessed to be part of a great organization and team,” said Thomas.
Thomas resides in Leon, WV and has two children, Gabriel, 8 and Ethan, 19. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, hunting, and farming. Thomas started his career at Holzer in 2000 as the Manager of the Diagnostic Testing Center in Jackson, Ohio. He was promoted to his current position in June 2014.
