Tip Leads to a Arrest

POMEROY, Ohio – The individual that was sought for an alleged armed robbery in Tuppers Plains has been arrested.

Meigs County Sheriff Scott Fitch issued a special news release stating that on February 17, 2023 a tip was received as to the whereabouts of Michael Atkinson. Athens County Sheriff Rodney Smith was contacted and immediately dispatched members of his special response team (SRT) to Adkinson’s mothers home in Coolville, Ohio.

The SRT members were able to locate Atkinson and place him under arrest. Custody of Atkinson was then transferred to Meigs County Deputies who transported him to the Noble County Jail.

Sheriff Fitch would like to thank Athens County Sheriff Rodney Smith and members of the Athens County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in locating and apprehending of Michael Atkinson.

Atkinson was wanted for allegedly entering a home with a sawed off shotgun and committing robbery in Tuppers Plains, Ohio on January 7, 2023.
