Imperial Electric/Nidec Motors to Expand in the East Meigs Industrial Park

Long time Meigs County manufacturer Imperial Electric/Nidec Motors has leased a 28,355 square foot building in the East Meigs Industrial Park owned by the Meigs County Community Improvement Corporation.

“Meigs County has always been very supportive to Imperial Electric/Nidec.  We are very excited to be able to occupy the building in Tuppers Plains,” said David Molnar, Nidec’s Vice-President for Global Elevator Motors and Machines.  “This added space positions Nidec very well for future growth.”

Imperial Electric is a custom manufacturer of special application AC and DC motor systems (motors and drives; motors and generators; motors and gearboxes) for the elevator and escalator markets, and has been in Meigs County for over 50 years.  Nidec is headquarted in Kyota, Japan, and has over 100,000 employees worldwide.

“We are thrilled that Nidec is growing and investing in Meigs County,” said Paul Reed, President of the Meigs County Community Improvement Corporation.

“They have been a wonderful employer for many years and we look forward to their continued growth in the community,” added Meigs County Commission President Jimmy Will.

The building in the East Meigs Industrial Park was built with help from the Rural Industrial Park Program from the Ohio Department of Development and the Governors’ Office of Appalachia.   “The Rural Industrial Park Program was designed for projects just like this and I’m proud to have played a part in writing the legislation,”  said Ohio State Representative Jay Edwards.   “I congratulate Nidec on their expansion in Meigs County and Southeastern Ohio.”
