John Ranegar, Jr., passed away peacefully August 27th, 2024, surrounded by his family.  He was born July 2, 1934, in Ray, PA.  John started his career with AEP in 1952 at the Windsor Power Plant, Wheeling, WV.  In 1973 he relocated to Cheshire, OH where he retired from the Gavin Plant after 42 years.  He served in the United States Army, was a member of the Central Christian Church and the Gallipolis Model A Club.   

John was a devoted husband, loving father, adored grandfather, and great grandfather.  He was known for his kindness, generosity, and as a devout Christian.  John married the love of his life, Patrica in 1954.  Together they raised four wonderful children. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Nora and John, sister Rose, his wife Patrica and son John William.  

He is survived by his children Pam (David) Keeton Lancaster OH, Charles (Jennifer) Ranegar Ona WV, and Shelly Ranegar Gallipolis OH.  

Fondly remembered by grandchildren Amanda Dye New York NY, Edward (Candice) Dye Gallipolis OH, Lauren (Jon) Wharton-Dye Lancaster OH, Olivia Dye (Leyland) Lancaster OH, Garrett (Keisha) Ranegar Pataskala OH, Blake Ranegar Lancaster OH, Ashley Ranegar Alexandria VA, Kyle (Taylor) Ranegar Baltimore OH, Alex Rose Gallipolis OH, Hannah (Brandon) Rutt Crown City OH, Lily Rose, Lynsey Rose, Leslie Burchett, Jayla Sturgeon and John Sturgeon of Gallipolis OH.  He was also blessed with two great grandchildren McKenzie Dye and Walker Ranegar.

John lived an amazing life.  From a humble upbringing he learned the value in helping others.  His love for Christ and others led him to always lend a hand, a ride, a dollar, or even just well-needed advice.  He taught by example and his children and grandchildren all hold these values close.  He will certainly be missed by all that knew him.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM. Sunday September 1, 2024 at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home with Denny Coburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from Noon till time of service.

Military Funeral Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the VFW #4464 Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be: Edward Dye, Garrett Ranegar, Kyle Ranegar, Blake Ranegar, David Keeton and Alex Rose.
