Gallia County Prosecuting Attorney, Jason D. Holdren, announces the sentencings of 10 individuals in the Gallia County Common Pleas Court:

Jason McCormick, 38, of Oak Hill, Ohio, was convicted by a Gallia County jury of 28 counts of Rape, felonies of the first degree. McCormick was sentenced to a minimum prison term of 121 years and a maximum prison term of 126.5 years.

Bretton M. Stutes, 30, was recently sentenced to prison for 2.5 years after violating the terms of his community control by violating a “no contact” order on numerous occasions, as well as being convicted of a new felony offense, specifically, Menacing by Stalking, a felony of the fourth degree. Stutes was originally placed on community control after being convicted of two counts of Violation of Protection Order, felonies of the fifth degree.

John H. Harkins, Jr., 49, of Vinton, Ohio, was convicted of Felonious Assault, a felony of the second degree. Harkins was sentenced to a minimum prison term of 4 years and a maximum prison term of 6 years. Upon his release, Harkins will be placed on post release control under the supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for 18 months to 2 years.

Cadarius Moore, 26, of Dayton, Ohio, was convicted of Failure to Comply with Order or Signal of a Police Officer, a felony of the third degree. Moore was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Brandon-Mahdi R. Sandifer, 30, of Durham, North Carolina, was convicted of Trafficking in Cocaine in an amount equal to or greater than 20 grams but less than 27 grams, a felony of the second degree. Sandifer was sentenced to a mandatory minimum prison term of 3 years and a maximum prison term of 4.5 years. Upon his release, Sandifer will be placed on post release control under the supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for 18 months to 3 years.

David S. Shank, 33, of Vinton, Ohio, was convicted of Illegal Conveyance of Drugs of Abuse onto Grounds of Detention Facility, a felony of the third degree. Shank was sentenced to 2 years in prison.

Christopher M. Nott, 47, of Gallipolis, Ohio, was convicted of Assault on a Peace Officer, a felony of the fourth degree. Nott was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Christofer J. Shears, 37, of Gallipolis, Ohio, was convicted of Possession of Criminal Tools, a felony of the fifth degree; Kidnapping, a felony of the second degree; and two counts of Endangering Children, Misdemeanors of the first degree. Shears was sentenced to a minimum prison term of 9 years and a maximum prison term of 13 years. Upon his release, Shears will be placed on post release control under the supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for 18 months to 3 years.

Curtis A. Canter, 36, of Oak Hill, Ohio, was recently sentenced to prison for 18 months after violating the terms of his community control by failing a drug screen and absconding from treatment. Canter was originally placed on community control after being convicted of Illegal Assembly or Possession of Chemicals for Manufacture of Methamphetamine, a felony of the third degree.

Roger K. McDaniel, 65, of Crown City, Ohio, was convicted of Having Weapons While Under Disability, a felony of the third degree; and Attempted Felonious Assault, a felony of the third degree. McDaniel was sentenced to 4 years in prison. Upon his release, McDaniel will be placed on post release control under the supervision of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority for a mandatory period of at least 1 and up to 3 years.
