Christopher Innis, 73, passed away Thursday August 29, 2024, at his residence.


Born July 26, 1951, in Newark, Ohio, he was the son of the late John Alden and
Dorothy Joan Edwards Innis. He retired from Athens County Human Services in 1998 as the Assistant Director where he had been employed since July 1978. He then worked for the State of Ohio Department of Human Services in County Finance before retiring in 2006. He enjoyed several years following that as a consultant for various county welfare districts.


Chris is survived by his wife Darleen Cramer Innis, a son John N. Innis of Athens.


Chris served on the Athens County Children Services Board since October 2007. He had been an Opera House Guild Volunteer and volunteered many seasons at Stuart’s and at the Nelsonville Music Festival. He loved music in all of its forms. Chris often served on his Granville HS Reunion Committee for the class of ’69. He held a private pilot’s license, loved woodworking and driving, especially driving his Mazda Miata.


A Celebration of Life will be held September 28, 2024, at Stuart’s Opera House, from 11:00-2:00.
Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.
