November 3, 1:00p.m. – 4:00p.m.: Ohio History Day: Research Day

Join Bossard Library and the Gallia-Vinton Educational Service Center on Sunday, November 3, 2024 from 1:00 — 4:00 PM to master the art of research, connect with experts and gain valuable History Day skills. Whether you’re researching or ready to build your final presentation, come work on your project with us.

RESEARCH SKILL-BUILDING: Build your skills by practicing how to write a thesis, how to find reputable primary and secondary sources, and how to organize your project.

ARCHIVE EXPLORATION: Explore the library’s collection to see what might be available on your topic. Learn the steps needed to borrow research material from other libraries. Learn how to use catalogs, search databases, and more. 

MENTOR MEETUPS: Join up with a mentor to get personalized project guidance. Discuss where your project is currently and brainstorm your next steps.

November 4, 6:00p.m. – 7:00p.m.: Evening Yoga Class – temporarily at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church

The class will be led by a Certified Yoga instructor. Attendees will be introduced to the basics of yoga practice and to the myriad benefits Yoga can bring to your life. Please make sure to arrive a few minutes early to your first class as you will need to fill out contact information and sign an exercise waiver. You must be 16 years of age or older to attend the class. Those ages 16-18 must have a waiver signed by a parent/guardian on file before attending the class. Please bring your own yoga mat or beach towel, and make sure to wear comfortable clothing. A few yoga mats will be available for those who do not own or have forgotten their own mat.

November 5, 10:00a.m.: Storytime – Temporarily at Gallipolis First Church of God

Children ages 3-6 are invited to join Ms. Kim for stories, songs, crafts, and games

November 6, 1:00p.m. – 3:00p.m.: Needlework Circle

Beginning, intermediate, and advanced knitters, crocheters, quilters, cross-stitchers, embroiderers, weavers and all other fiber artists are welcome. Bring your current project and talk, discuss and learn from your fellow fiber artists. Never knitted, crocheted, quilted, cross-stitched, etc. but want to learn? Members will be available to show you how to get started. Beginning knitters and/or crocheters: You will be furnished with a set of knitting needles and/or a crochet hook and 1 skein of yarn. This group is free and open to participants ages 12 and up.

November 7, 10:00a.m.: Lapsit

Children ages 0-3 are invited to join Ms. Kim for stories, songs, and games.

November 9, 1:00p.m.: French City Writers’ Guild

Are you interested in creative writing? Do you want to be able to share your ideas and written works? If so, you are invited to join the French City Writers’ Guild. The Writers’ Guild is an open forum writing group that enables you to share your works and meet others who share your passion for writing. Our goal is to provide a comfortable place for writers to read their works to an audience and receive constructive feedback, hear the works of others, network with other local writers, and hone their craft. Meetings are for those ages 18+ as, on occasion, works with more mature content may be presented and discussed.
