COLUMBUS, Ohio – From the first day in office, Ohio’s new governor has definitely “hit the ground running.”

On Monday, Mike DeWine was sworn-in as the 70th Governor of Ohio. DeWine officially took the oath of office at his home in Cedarville during a brief midnight ceremony. Later, during his inaugural address, DeWine highlighted the priorities of his administration, including helping at-risk children and fostering a more prosperous future for all Ohio families.

On Tuesday, Governor DeWine issued an executive order creating an advisory committee on home visitation, during an event at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The goal will be to expand programs to help at-risk mothers maintain a healthy pregnancy, reduce infant mortality, and help children receive the best start in life.

On Wednesday, Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted attended the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. DeWine and Husted saw a preview of the Toledo-made Jeep Gladiator and met with several automotive industry executives. The visit included ameeting with GM CEO Mary Barra on Thursday to encourage GM to put a new product at its Lordstown facility.

Also on Thursday, Governor DeWine spoke to a crowd of more than 900 at the Akron Roundtable luncheon. DeWine announced at the event that he was named Conference of Great Lakes St. Lawrence Governors & Premiers, which works to protect the Great Lakes and grow the region’s economy.
