The Austin County Sheriff’s Office joined with the Houston Police Department to apprehend two suspects wanted on multiple charges.

On Tuesday, the Houston Police Department’s Major Offenders Division contacted the Sheriff’s Office, requesting assistance from the Special Investigations Unit.

The HPD Criminal Investigations Team was searching for two suspects thought to be in the Austin County area.

A Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit tracked down and apprehended the defendants, who were going east on I-10 near Mile Marker 724 in Sealy.

Thaddius Goins, 36, of Houston, and Rataski Goins, 35, of Houston, were identified as the driver and passenger, respectively.

The two are suspected in several “juggings” that occurred in Houston, Austin, and San Antonio.

“Juggings” is a crime in which suspects watch for somebody withdrawing significant quantities of cash from a bank or ATM and then follow them to another site to steal the money—either by breaking into their vehicle or committing direct robbery.

A Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper cooperated with the traffic stop and helped apprehend the suspects.

Following the traffic stop, both persons were arrested and charged with:

Four counts of Unlawful Use of a Criminal Instrument

Fraudulent Use/Possession of Identifying Information

The defendants were taken and lodged into Austin County Jail in Bellville without incident. The inquiry is still underway, with additional charges possible.
