Gallia Man Dies on Deer Season’s Opening Day

stars-storyAn investigation is under way into the death of a Bidwell man Monday, the opening day of Ohio’s 2013 deer hunting gun season.

Gallia County Sheriff Joe Browning identified the victim as 45-year-old Larry W. Bradley.

Browning said Gallia 9-1-1 was notified at 8:52 a.m. of a hunting injury in the area of Thaxton Road in Morgan Township, about a mile east of Ohio 554. Gallia EMS and the Springfield Township Volunteer Fire Department initially responded to the dispatch from 9-1-1.

Upon arrival, Gallia sheriff’s deputies and officers from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Division found that Bradley had died from an apparent gunshot wound. Further details were not immediately available, and an investigation into the incident is being conducted by the sheriff’s office with the assistance of ODNR, Browning said.

Deer season in Ohio runs until Sunday, Dec. 8.
