Sheriff Issues Snow Emergency
The Meigs County Sheriff Keith O. Wood has changed back to a level one snow emergency following a brief declaration of a Level two snow emergency.
A Level 1 is described as, “Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be icy. Motorists are urged to drive very cautiously.”
According to the Meigs County Sheriff website a LEVEL 2 is explained as the following: “Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roads. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work. Motorists should use extreme caution.”
From the Sheriff’s Facebook page had previously issued the following statement in regard to the Level 2, saying, “Due to an extreme situation, we have declared a LEVEL 2 SNOW EMERGENCY. Road officers are reporting layers of ice on the roadways. We are getting a large amount of weather related collisions. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roads. Motorists should use extreme caution.”
Again, it is now a Level 1, but motorists are urged to drive with caution.
