Daniel E. “Dan” Daines, 47

Daniel E. “Dan” Daines, 47, of Xenia, Ohio passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the Holzer Medical Center.

Dan was born on March 22, 1966 in Xenia, Ohio, son of the late Martin F. Daines, and Barbara Burger Daines who survive in Crown City. He was a 1984 graduate of Southwestern High School and Buckeye Hills. Dan had been employed by Bob Evans in their Xenia and Springfield plants. He had been an active volunteer fireman for both Xenia Township and District 2 in Gallia County.

He survived by a son Eric J. Daines of Xenia, his mother, Barbara Daines of Crown City, three brothers Paul (Stephanie) Daines of Patriot, John (Mary) Daines of Crown City, and Michael (Sherry Daines of Crown City, several nieces, nephews and great-nieces also survive. Dan was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and an Aunt Mary Burger.

Funeral services will be 7 pm Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Alfred Holley officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-7 pm on Thursday prior the services. Graveside burial services will be on Friday at 11 am January 3, 2014 at Victory Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Patrick officiating.
