James “Jim” Carpenter, 76

James “Jim” Carpenter, 76, of Bidwell, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 27, 2014 at Grant Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.

He was born January 8, 1938 in Cedar Grove, West Virginia, son of the late Jennings and Dorothy Smith Carpenter. He was married to Betty Carpenter and she preceded him in death on January 26, 2009. Jim was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He retired from the AEP Gavin Plant and was a member of Rodney Pike Church of God.

Surviving are his son, David (Deanna) Carpenter of Gallipolis; his daughter, Paula (Ryan) Vincent of Elizabeth, West Virginia; five grandchildren, Aaron (Casey) Carpenter, Katie Carpenter, Mariah Garrett, Nikki Garrett, and Tyler Garrett; and three great grandchildren, Maci and Owen Carpenter, Kaden Long.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Betty Carpenter, Jim was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Carpenter and Rick Carpenter.

Services will be 5:00 p.m., Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Bynum officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-5 p.m.
