Cold Weather Prompts Spike in AAA Travel Agency Calls
Since winter began, AAA’s Roadside Rescue Team has received several thousand calls from stranded West Virginia motorists, including hundreds with dead batteries and flat tires caused by the frigid weather. The bone-chilling cold also has caused an influx of requests to AAA Travel, from people wanting to escape the freezing temperatures in the Charleston area for a warm-weather destination.
“It’s put our business into overdrive,” said Amy Sisson, a travel agent at AAA’s Charleston office. “The arctic chill is making the phones red-hot.”
AAA Travel agents in Charleston have seen a sharp increase in the number of requests since the start of the year, many from folks seeking warm-weather destinations.
