Rainbow Trout Stocking Dates Changed
OHIO – Ohio’s planned rainbow trout stockings at Adams Lake in Adams County and Barnesville Reservoir No. 3 in Belmont County are postponed.
Adams Lake and Barnesville Reservoir No. 3 remain ice-covered, and shorelines have been impacted by recent heavy snow. These are unsafe conditions for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife to stock trout.
Both lakes were scheduled to receive trout on Friday, March 7.
-Adams Lake will now be stocked on Thursday, March 20.
-Barnesville Reservoir No. 3 will now be stocked on Friday, March 21.
No other stocking dates have been changed at this time. More than 98,000 rainbow trout will be released this spring at 63 Ohio public lakes and ponds. Additional information about trout releases is available at wildohio.com or by calling 800-WILDLIFE.
Many stocked locations will feature special angler events, including youth-only fishing, on the day of the scheduled trout release. Rainbow trout releases will take place across Ohio from March 7-May 16. Contact the nearest wildlife district office for specific information.
Rainbow trout are raised at state fish hatcheries and measure 10-13 inches before they are released by the division. The daily catch limit for inland lakes is five trout.
