Information Sharing is Key to Securing Ohio
COLUMBUS – Ohio Homeland Security values the sharing of information with a variety of trusted local, county, state, federal and private sector partners.
One of the primary objectives of Ohio Homeland Security is to function as a “one-stop-shop” for receiving and sharing terrorism-related information for the State of Ohio through the work of the Strategic Analysis and Information Center (SAIC). The center relies on the integration of existing local, state, federal and public/private sector partners to collect, filter, analyze, and disseminate terrorism-related information to trusted partners across the state and the nation.
Ohio is fortunate to have three federally recognized fusion centers in the state. The Northeast Ohio Regional Fusion Center, the Greater Cincinnati Fusion Center and the SAIC collaborate and work together to create a streamlined information sharing system for our partners.
All three centers receive, analyze and disseminate information for a multitude of trusted partners with the mission of preventing terrorism and other threats to public safety. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is also a key partner of the SAIC. DHS and the SAIC maintain daily contact, supplying critical guidance and intelligence and helping ensure the State of Ohio, its policymakers and partnering agencies are fully informed and prepared.
One of Ohio Homeland Security’s best partners is the public. The public as well as our network of established partners are encouraged to report suspicious activity to the statewide tip line at 1-877-OHS-INTEL.
Reporting suspicious activity plays a vital role in the mission to counter crime and potential acts of terrorism in the state of Ohio.
